The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis as it’s known in the northern hemisphere, is truly one of the most spectacular natural events to witness. A Taste of Alaska Lodge happens to be in a location virtually free of light pollution, making it an incredible destination for Aurora Borealis viewing.
Simply put, the lights of the Aurora Borealis are caused by electrically charged particles from the sun colliding with gas atoms in Earth’s upper atmosphere. The colors typically seen during these interactions range from green and white, red, and occasionally even violet and blue.
This dazzling and magical display may be seen more readily during periods of active solar flares and clear, crisp nights in Alaska.
